What if you could eavesdrop on Jesus praying for you? What if you could hear what he desires for your own life?

In John 17, we are given that privilege. In verses 20–26, Jesus turns his attention from the disciples gathered around him and prays for those who will believe in him through their message. That includes us.

Someone has said, “Tell me what a man prays for, and I will tell you what he is.” We pray about what matters to us. Our prayers reveal our concerns, our desires, and the priorities of our hearts.

So that means that John 17 gives us a window into the heart of Christ. Here we’re allowed to listen as the Son speaks to the Father. And as we listen, we discover what matters most to him for his people.

So how does he pray for us—his future disciples? What does he desire for us?
