The Wise Men's Journey

Christmas is a season full of searching. People wander through store aisles, checking tags, comparing options, scrolling through online reviews in pursuit of the “perfect” Christmas gift.
And it doesn’t stop there. We hunt for the gift that’s sold out everywhere. We drive around the city trying to find the best light displays. We tear the house apart looking for Scotch tape when it’s time to wrap. And some kids become master detectives, searching for the presents their parents have tried to hide.
Christmas is a time for searching — but not only for gifts and decorations. The first Christmas featured seekers on a far more significant hunt: men looking not for a present, but for a Person … the one who is himself the perfect gift.
I’m talking about the wise men. They arrived in Jerusalem asking, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?” Their story begins with a question, but it ends in worship.
And that brings us to our series, Christmas on the Move. The wise men made a long journey from the East to find Jesus. The question before us is this: How does their movement call us forward as followers of Jesus today?
