Searching the Scriptures but Missing the Saviour

Topic: Jesus Scripture: John 5:30–47
In John 5:39, Jesus says to the Jewish leaders, “You search the Scriptures.” The Greek word translated as “search” means “a careful or thorough search.” They had carefully and thoroughly searched the Old Testament Scriptures, but they had missed the most important thing about those Scriptures.
Today, we can make the same mistake. It’s possible to know the Scriptures inside and out but miss what the Scriptures are all about.
You could memorize lots and lots of Bible verses. You could read the entire Bible every year, never missing a single day. You could possess an in-depth knowledge of Bible geography. You could know the answer to every Bible trivia question. All of that could be true of you, and you could still miss what the Bible is all about.
What are the Scriptures all about?
