In John 5:19-29, Jesus makes several claims about himself.

1. The Son does the same things that the Father does (vv. 19-20). 
2. The Son has the power to raise the dead (v. 21).
3. The Son is the ultimate judge of all people (v. 22).
4. The Son is to be honoured in the same way that the Father is honoured (v. 23a).

Jesus claims to be more than a good man; he claims to be the God-man.

How important is it that we get Jesus right? It’s extremely important. Look at what Jesus says at the end of verse 23: “Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.”

If you get Jesus wrong, you get God wrong
